The native range of this species is S. China to Indo-China. It is a tree and grows primarily in the subtropical biome.

Distribution: 

Phu Tho, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Ninh Binh, Nghe An. The tree grows naturally in humid evergreen forests, on limestone mountains, at an altitude of 400-1,800 m. Included in the Red Book of Vietnam
