Pruhoniciana Norway spruce - with Picea pungens procumbens in foreground

What a name! There are so many cultivars of the Norway spruce (Picea abies) that at times it may seem like why do we need any more. This form, which I saw for the first time this summer in Oregon has a distinct habit that is very appealing. It has some of the bold characteristics of the snake forms, but the gracefullness of Picea abies ‘Pendula major’. I think this tree will be a winner as more people become familiar with it.
