New to BaT? Learn how it works.

This 1985 Bitter SC was ordered new from Germany by the seller, who was at that time the general manager of the West Coast Bitter distributorship based in Beverly Hills, California. It was the seller’s company car until Bitter folded, at which point he purchased the car for himself. It was also featured in the November 1985 issue of Road & Track magazine and now shows just under 94k miles. Power comes from a 3.9-liter OHC straight-six that features Bosch fuel injection and is mated to a Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox. The most recent service included replacement of the fuel pump and injectors. This Bitter is now being offered with the factory books and manuals, original sales literature, a spares package, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The body is steel and was produced in Italy. Bright red paint is said to be original, and the seller states that the car has no history of accident damage or repairs. It has reportedly always been garage stored and never driven in inclement weather. A few small rock chips are present around the nose and lower valance.

Factory-equipped Ronal 5-spoke wheels measure 15×7” up front and 15×8″ out back. They show light patina and are shod with 215/60 and 235/60 Michelin Pilot tires. The car features power steering, as well as disc brakes and independent suspension all around.

Pleated leather from Gavina is found throughout the cabin, with visible wear on the driver’s seat and armrest, center console trim, and steering wheel. The interior is said to remain in stock condition apart from a non-functioning aftermarket stereo, and a plaque just behind the shift lever displays the Bitter serial number.

The rear seat is finished in the same upholstery, and the seller is including a matching leather hide if the next owner feels a refurbishment is warranted.

The Opel-sourced 3.9-liter inline-six is mated to a Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox and was rated at 210 horsepower when new. The seller says the car has always been well maintained and notes the fuel injectors and fuel pump were recently replaced. An included spares package contains a clutch pack, water pump, front brake rotors, brake pads, and wiper blades.
