This Honda CRX got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1991 Honda CRX was acquired by the seller in 2015 and subsequently built for track use with a 1.8-liter LS/VTEC inline-four mated to a five-speed Synchrotech manual transaxle. Equipment includes a chin spoiler, a PCI aluminum rear wing and side skirts, tow loops, Fortune Auto coilovers, DC Sports strut-tower braces, Innovative Mounts traction bars, Skunk2 camber kits, BlackWorks rear lower control arms, Wilwood front disc brakes, Drag wheels, a Hondata ECU, heat-wrapped headers, and a Magnaflow exhaust system as well as Kirkey racing seats, a Rhodes roll cage, a FireBottle fire suppression system, and Impact Racing harnesses. This modified CRX is now offered at no reserve with the seller’s service and build records, a Haynes service manual, a Motor Trend article reprint, a marketing brochure, dynamometer run results, a Johnny Lightning diecast model, a Carfax report, and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.

The car has been refinished in white with a black chin spoiler, dual mirrors, PCI aluminum side skirts, and VTEC graphics as well as front and rear tow loops, a PCI adjustable aluminum rear wing, and a carbon-fiber hood with a carbon-look wrap and quick-release pins. The Carfax report notes a 1994 accident resulting in damage to the front and left-rear corner.

Drag DR31 16″wheels are finished in charcoal gray and wrapped in 205/40 Falken Azenis RT615 tires showing 2019 and 2021 date codes. The car is equipped with Fortune Auto 500 Series adjustable coilovers, hard rubber race bushings, DC Sports strut-tower braces, Skunk2 front and rear camber kits, BlackWorks rear lower control arms, and Innovative Mounts traction bars. Braking comes from Wilwood six-piston calipers over drilled slotted 13″ rotors up front and Integra discs out back. The steering racking, wheel bearings, and ball joints are Honda replacements.

The stripped cabin is equipped with a gusseted Rhodes Race Cars six-point roll cage, Kirkey aluminum racing seats with driver-side containment, Impact Racing five-point cam-lock harnesses, and a FireBottle two-point fire-suppression system.

A detachable Momo steering wheel fronts a replacement instrument cluster, and an AutoMeter Auto Gage tachometer with a programmable shift light has been mounted to the dashboard. Coolant-temperature and oil-pressure lamps are mounted on a center panel along with a digital timer. The six-digit odometer shows 191k miles, approximately 2k of which were driven by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The 1.8-liter LS/VTEC inline-four was built using a B18 bottom end and a B16A decked cylinder head, intake manifold and throttle body as well as honed cylinders and internals consisting of:

  • Eagle forged crank
  • King main and rod bearings
  • Wiseco pistons and rings
  • Molnar connecting rods
  • Cometic cylinder head gasket
  • ARP cylinder head studs and rod bolts

Additional equipment includes Hondata engine management, a Type R red valve cover, Hasport Performance engine mounts, and tubular headers flowing into a custom 2.5″ Magnaflow exhaust system.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a Synchrotech Transmissions five-speed manual transaxle with Pro Series Carbon Synchros, an Exedy racing clutch, and a Competition Clutch flywheel as well as an MFactory limited-slip differential. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.

The Carfax report notes the aforementioned accident and lists history in Utah, Idaho, and Washington.
