Juniperus chinensis 'Hetzii
Columnaris'
Upright pyramidal formwith scale and awl-shaped leaves. Needles are bright
green. Grows to around 10' to 15' hogh with the female having heavy cone production.
This juniper after 15 to 20 years could grow to be 20' 25' high.
Juniperus chinensis 'Hetzii
Glauca'
Semi-erect form with light blue foliage. Intermediate between 'Hetzii' and
Hetzii Columnaris'. Grows 5' to 7' tall and wider than high at maturity.
Juniperus chinensis 'Pfitzerana'
This is considered the granddaddy of juniper cultivars and one of the most
popular to this day. Most widely planted juniper, wide-spreading, variable
form, usually listed as growing about 5' high and 10' wide, actually can grow
larger than this. Foliage is scale-like and awl-shaped, bright green or sage
green. Main branching is at 45 degree angle. Much more handsome in youth and
gets ragged with age.
Juniperus chinensis 'Saybrook
Gold'
Considered the brightest gold foliage J. chinensis type, primarily
needle-like foliage which is bright yellow in summer and more bronze-yellow
in winter. Horizontally spreading type probably 2' to 3' high and 6' wide.
Juniperus chinensis 'Sea
Green'
Compact spreader with fountain-like, arching branches, and dark green foliage.
Foliage darkens in cold weather. 4' to 6' high, 6' to 8' wide. Good looking
form which is upright like the 'pfitzeriana'.
Juniperus chinensis var. sargentii
'Glauca'
Truly one of the best groundcover types because of its handsome blue-green
scalelike foliage. this is a selection with bluer needle color. Branchlets
are thin and feather.
