Comments: Pinus contorta var. latifolia 'Chief Joseph' is a dwarf conifer that slowly reaches 8 to 10 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide. This cultivar was found in the Wallowas by Doug Will. It generally has an upright habit, with some twisted and contorted shape, which enhances in extremely windy environments. The needles are a green/yellow color most of the year, and turn yellow in the winter.
