  • Conifer, evergreen, slow to moderate growth rate, about 10 ft (3 m) high in 10 years, 30 ft (9 m) at maturity.   Tips of new growth are whitish, later yellowish and finally green.  As the tree matures it produces less vigorous new growth and the white tipped branches become less noticeable.
  • Sun.  Prefers well-drained and somewhat dry soil.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 6     Observed in Castlewellan, North Ireland before 1899.
