Chapter 2. Setting up the SOA governance environment
This chapter covers
- Basic architecture of the services
- Components of the SOA governance environment
- Setting up an Eclipse-based environment to use with the examples in this book
- Installing tools that make up your SOA governance environment
- Details of the REST and WS-* based architectures
In the previous chapter we looked at the theory behind SOA governance. You learned what it is and why it’s needed and looked at the advantages it provides to an organization. We also looked a bit at how to apply this within your organization or department. In this chapter I’ll show you how to set up your local environment so you can easily run the various examples from this book and get a feel for the tools and techniques explained in the latter chapters of the book. The example used in this chapter shows how to create a REST- and a WS-* based service that stores and retrieves information from a NoSQL database.
