Discovered by Portia Bryant on salt dyke, Upper Newport Bay, Newport Beach, Orange County, CA. 2/7/2019. © Joanne Schwartz.

Substrate: Nestled in sand and shells on an old sandbar in estuary
Habitat: 2 ft above high tide
Host: Possibly Telegraph Weed, seen in picture to the left.
Other: Hundreds in area 120 ft X 240 ft. Largest is 6cm across. Apparently not attached to plant roots. No wood chips, sawdust, buried wood, etc.
