DANVILLE, CA — Danville is about to enjoy a “long day’s journey into night” with a number of events honoring one of its most famous former residents.

The Tao House’s Eugene O’Neill 23rd Annual Festival, which honors the famous playwright who lived in a hacienda house on the edge Las Trampas Park from 1937 until 1944, is hosting a number of O’Neill-themed events from now until October 16.

On Thursday at 6:30, the Whiskey & Words Fundraiser at Auburn Lounge will offer a curated whiskey tasting, raffle, live music, and even a spontaneous limerick exchange. $20 buys three tastings. See here for more information.

On Friday, there will be a free guided tour of downtown Danville to highlight some of O’Neill’s old haunts. The tour meets at the O’Neill Commemorative Park across from Danville Public Library at 10 a.m., and ends at the Museum of the San Ramon Valley.

The three final performances of “A Moon for the Misbegotten” a 1943 sequel to “Long Day’s Journey Into Night”, will take place at the Tao House, incidentally the same place where O’Neill wrote the play. Performances will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the old barn at the Tao House.
