Born in the Scottish town of Ballater in 1910, Donald Davidson played harmonica from a very early age. By the late 1920s, Davidson was broadcasting regularly on the Aberdeen radio station 2BD and was heard by a talent scout who signed him up for Beltona Records. Over the next decade, he recorded about 40 sides for Beltona, … interestingly, they were performed on a chromatic tremolo harmonica he built himself, something his record company felt obliged to bring to their customers’ attention.
