There’s no slowing down for Winfrey, who is a producer (alongside Steven Spielberg, Quincy Jones and Scott Sanders) on the musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s “The Color Purple,” set to release over the December holiday. The Oscar contender stars Halle Bailey, Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo, Aunjanue Ellis and Danielle Brooks, the latter of whom is tackling the role that Winfrey played in the original 1985 film. Winfrey’s Harpo Films is also behind Hulu series “Black Cake,” created by Marissa Jo Cerar, as well as the Hulu docuseries “The 1619 Project,” based on the work of Nikole Hannah-Jones. Winfrey continues to play a role in Oprah Winfrey Network, the cable network that also has a podcast deal with SiriusXM; she has a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to remain a part of OWN through 2025. In 2022, Winfrey ended her overall deal with Apple TV+, although she continues to collaborate with Apple on “Oprah’s Book Club.”
