Best in full sun, but tolerates partial shade (plants become loose, open, and lose their density if not enough sun), humus rich - medium rich, medium moist, medium - slightly acid soil. Prolonged drought sensitive! Good for urban plantings. Can be used as a solitaire plant or group plantings, as formal or informal hedge or screen. Late April till July is the time to prune. It's recommended to cut out damaged branches, to water and to fertilize with general purpose fertilizer for conifers in early Summer.
