Phloeosinus aubei (Perris, 1855) was previously recorded from Romania only from Orşova, the warmest area of Romania, characterised by sub-Mediterranean climate. Recently, the species was found on a dying tree of Thuja occidentalis L. in Solca, a locality in Northern Romania with Baltic climatic influence. From a trunk with length 1.05 m, a total of 1644 beetles were collected together with 42 adult parasitoids of Metacolus unifasciatus Förster, 1856, one of Eurytoma morio Boheman, 1836, one of Dendrosoter protuberans (Nees, 1834) and one unidentified braconid (Hymenoptera). The parasitoid-host relations between these three identified species and P. aubei are new to Romania. In the new northern location, P. aubei has different parasitoids from the ones in the southern area of the country, with little impact on bark beetle mortality.
Saproxylic Beetles - their role and diversity in European woodland and tree habitats Proceedings of the 5th Symposium and Workshop on the Conservation of Saproxylic Beetles
Th e first study on the beetle fauna in the Giumalau spruce primeval forest (Eastern Carpathians, Romania), mainly based on a quantitative analysis of terrestrial and saproxylic species2009 •
In 2006 and 2007 we carried out quantitative seasonal sampling on Coleoptera in the primeval spruce forest of the Giumalau Mountains (Eastern Carpathians). Th e scientifi c reserve Giumalau was founded in February 1932 and has a total area of 309.5 ha. We captured and identifi ed 190 species belonging to 33 families. Of these, 46.3% represent xylobiont species. We inventoried, expressed in trophic categories, 11 (5.8%) foliophagous/seminivorous species, 12 (6.3%) mycetophagous, 8 (4.2%) mixophagous, 17 (8.9%) xylophagous, 14 (7.4%) cambi-ophagous/ xylemophagous, 41 (21.6%) saproxylophagous and xylomycetophagous, 57 (30%) detritophagous/coprophagous/necrophagous, and 38 (20%) predators. Th e following rare and representative species for spruce primeval forests were found: Cornumutila quadrivittata Gebler 1830 (Cerambycidae), Nemozoma elongatum (Linnaeus, 1761) (Trogositidae), Salpingus rufi collis (Linnaeus 1761) (Salpingidae). Leiodes rhaeticus Erichson, 1845 (Leiodidae) is recorded for the fi rst time in Romania.

New Data on the Knowledge of Beetle Fauna (Insecta: Coleoptera) in the “Bârnova-Repedea Forest” Site of Community Importance (Rosci 01235, Iaşi, Romania2013 •
103 coleopteran species, belonging to 11 families were found during our faunal sampling in 2012 in the Bârnova-Repedea Forest site. Out of them Carabus variolosus Fabricius, Lucanus cervus (Linnaeus), Cerambyx cerdo Linnaeus, Morimus funereus Mulsant and Rosalia alpina (Linnaeus) are species of community interest, included in the Annex II of the Habitat Directive. Carpelimus gusarovi Gildenkov and Stenus doderoi Bondroit were collected by the authors, for the first time in Romania. Carabus excellens (Fabricius), a rare species, was rediscovered in this site, and specific faunistic data on the species Colon (Myloechus) dentipes (C. R. Sahlberg) are provided for the first time.

It is the first full information about the occurrence of the Mediterranean cypress bark beetle Phloeosinus aubei (Perris, 1855) in Poland. The first observation was made in 2014 near Wrocław and then in 2017 in Poznań. It has been observed that Phloeosinus aubei has no big impact on Polish forests. So far its role is limited to trees which are cultivated as ornamental plants (Chamaecyparis, Juniperus and Thuja).

Three species of bark beetles (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Scolytinae) on Pinus peuce in Pirin Mountains in BulgariaIn 2020 and 2021, three species of bark beetles (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Scolytinae) were established on Macedonian pine (Pinus peuce) in the region of Vihren hut in Pirin Mts. Branches, damaged by snow were collected and studied in laboratory conditions. As a result, 24 specimens of Ips amitinus were reared in 2020 and 81 specimens of I. amitinus, Crypturgus pusillus and Pityogenes chalcographus in 2021. The most abundant species was I. amitinus with 75.2%, followed by P. chalcographus (21.9%) and C. pusillus (2.9%).
