With, among other things, its deep forests full of game, the Ardennes department is a true natural sanctuary. One of the masters of these places is undoubtedly the deer which at this beginning of autumn gives voice. It's up to you to witness and above all to hear these astonishing and rare moments when males call and seek to fertilize females in order to perpetuate the survival of the species.
At the animal park of Saint-Laurent
Saint-Laurent Animal Park in Charleville-Mézières offers you to discover for free from September 18 to October 5 this unique experience: Hear a deer roar.
Appointment is given at 18 p.m. in the parking lot of the animal park.
Several dates:
- In September: Mondays 18 and 25 – Wednesdays 20 and 27
- In October: 2, 4 and 5.
Recommendations : avoid dressing in clothes that are too conspicuous to be more discreet – warm clothes and walking shoes or boots are required – binoculars and flashlights are optional but strongly recommended.
Info and reservations: 03 24 57 39 84 during park opening hours or directly at the park reception.
Park opening hours :
From October 1 to March 31: every day from 13:30 p.m. to 17:30 p.m.
From April 1 to September 30: Monday to Friday from 14 p.m. to 18 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 13:30 p.m. to 19 p.m.
Closed on Thursdays.

In Hargnies with the friends of the Park
A unique date not to be missed… See you on Friday September 22, 2023 in Hargnies.
Evening organized with the support of Ardennes Regional Nature Park, in partnership with the association of ONF foresters and Pascal CHAGOT.
Duration : 18h to 22h30.
Distance: about 2 km (variable depending on the place visited)
The foresters will accompany you in your quest. A photographic projection and a meal will punctuate this evening. Dinner served in a local restaurant “La Maison Chanchet” in Hargnies.
Equipment required : Walking or hiking shoes.
Popular accessories for the ride : Rain gear, walking stick, flashlight (or headlamp) and water bottle.
The utmost discretion is required (no door slamming, silent walking, etc.)
Age : from 6 years old
No difficulty: Ideal for family
Pets not allowed
Financial participation, 27 euros per person.
Mandatory registration on the friends of the park website.
Now it's up to you to enjoy a real attraction that is both exceptional and unusual!
