Pinus sylvestris 'Nana' is a small, slow-growing, dome-shaped, bushy, densely branched, coniferous, evergreen tree with flaking orange-brown bark, twisted, stiff, needle-like, blue-green leaves in bundles of two, and grey to light brown cones. As it matures, it develops open-rounded crowns, capriciously growing. Pinus sylvestris 'Nana' grows best in moist, acidic, well-drained soils, but is adaptable to a wide range of soils, including poor and dry. It doesn’t like heat and humidity and prefers cool climates. It should be sheltered from hard winds. It can withstand urban pollution. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning. Easy to grow. Pinus sylvestris 'Nana' is a lovely, small shrub perfect as a specimen or accent plant. Great when planted in groups or for mass planting. Excellent for beds and borders and foundation planting. Ideal for cottage, coastal, rock, and urban gardens. Suitable for growing in containers and bonsai.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
