Thuja occidentalis 'Teddy' is a lovely, slow-growing, compact, dwarf, coniferous, evergreen shrub of rounded habit with reddish-brown, peeling bark, and blue-grey, needle-like leaves, fresh green in spring, and bronze-tinged in winter. Thuja occidentalis 'Teddy' can adapt to a wide range of soils and soil conditions, but thrives in average, moderately fertile, deep, loamy, moist, well-drained soils in full sun. It can tolerate partial shade but doesn’t like dry conditions. Even though it likes sunny positions, it appreciates some afternoon shade in hot summer climates. It can withstand frost, but needs to be sheltered from harsh, winter winds. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning, but is suitable for trimming. Dwarf Cedar 'Teddy' is a neat and compact shrub, easy to grow and maintain. Perfect as a specimen plant or planted in groups, especially in rock and gravel gardens. Excellent for beds and borders, foundation plantings and low hedges. Ideal for growing in pots and containers.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
