Snipple Animation Teases Involvement with ‘Ren & Stimpy’ Reboot

The animation studio, which specializes in hand-drawn content, hinted on Instagram of their work on new episodes of one of the most controversial children’s series ever created.

Any news is good news! Comedy Central’s Ren & Stimpy reboot, first announced in 2020, seems to have found a home with Snipple Animation Studios. The series was recently teased by Snipple on Instagram, nearly a year after the announcement that Awesome, Inc. would produce the series. It is currently unknown whether Awesome Inc. is still involved.

The Instagram post, which has since been deleted, followed a cheeky image with the caption, “Now that you know what's going on, let us tell you of who's about to come along. EEEEENCOMING! Recruitment for ANIMATION TRAINING is now in full swing. Scroll down for our past post. EXPERIENCED ANIMATION ARTISTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO APPLY FOR AVAILABLE WORK. BE WITH US for more productive days ahead, and be part of more happy, happy joy joy days for all!".

Snipple specializes in hand-drawn animation, and touts credits on Nickelodeon’s Dora and Friend: Into the City!, Phineus and Ferb, Disney’s DuckTales, Big Hero 6 The Series, Teen Titans Go!, and more. The animation studio is headquartered in the Philippines, with offices in London, and also partners with Keith Chapman (PAW Patrol) under the Snipple Originals banner to develop original animated TV series for children.

Running for five seasons, the original Ren & Stimpy series was revered for its black comedy, toilet humor, and sexual innuendo, which led to numerous altercations with Standards and Practices and earned ardent fans worldwide. Known as a difficult, but incredibly talented animator and director, John Kricfalusi was eventually unceremoniously fired off his own show in 1992; purists claim the series was never the same. Time will tell if the reboot will live up to the original’s perfectly troubled, yet beloved, antics.

A release date for Ren & Stimpy has yet to be announced.
