Allen Tate Realtors, after opening its first High Country office a year ago in Blowing Rock, has added its second location in that market.

Allen Tate opened an office in downtown Boone on Wednesday, the Charlotte-based company said. It initially entered the High Country region last September after acquiring Blowing Rock Investment Properties, a firm established in 2005 that had 20 Realtors, for an undisclosed amount.

The High Country area encompasses several communities in northwestern North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains, including Boone, Blowing Rock, West Jefferson, Banner Elk, Linville, Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain and Lenoir. That makes it a prime market for buyers looking in North Carolina for a vacation or investment property.

"In 2020, with Covid, we've seen lots of activity from buyers looking to purchase a second home in the High Country region or relocate there, and this office is a reflection of our continued success," Tony Jarrett, Allen Tate's regional vice president in the High Country and Triad regions, told CBJ in an email.

Jarrett said that Allen Tate's expansion to Boone gives it the space to accommodate new agents as well as the flexibility to meet clients in a different part of the region.

The Boone and Blowing Rock offices employ a combined 35 agents. Allen Tate said it is actively recruiting for more Realtors at both locations.

Allen Tate's office in Boone is located at 736 W. King St. With a two-story contemporary design, it has 2,400 square feet of office and meeting space. Bill Dacchille, owner of Boone-based Dacchille Construction, served as the general contractor.

Scott MacIntosh will lead the Boone office. He is also the branch leader of the Blowing Rock location.

Shortly after purchasing Blowing Rock Investment Properties, Allen Tate acquired Realty One of Winston-Salem in October 2019. And in 2018, it formed a partnership with Pittsburgh-based Howard Hanna Real Estate Services to extend its reach farther north. The companies retained ownership of their respective firms as part of the deal but became part of one combined organization.

Allen Tate Cos. is Charlotte's largest residential real estate firm in terms of number of full-time local agents, closings and sales volume, according to recent Charlotte Business Journal research. Allen Tate recorded $3.22 billion from local closed sales in 2019 and a total of 10,526 closings in this market. The firm had 855 agents across 24 local offices as of this April.

The 62-year-old company operates 45 offices across its entire footprint, which, in addition to the Charlotte and High Country regions, includes the Triad and Research Triangle markets as well as Upstate South Carolina. It logged 20,071 closed transactions and $5.75 billion in closed sales volume in 2019.

Allen Tate offers services such as mortgage and insurance in addition to brokerage.
