6C59F070-E4B0-4597-BE22-8532E643CF2E.jpeg Hello,

I am new to Bonsai and just finish styling this Blue Alps Juniper I picked up at a local nursery.

At first, the trunk with several changes in direction and the fine leaves is what called my attention.

However, once I started styling I thought it would like in a “clump style” Bonsai.

Certainly not the traditional form for either a root connected on a clump (in my inexperienced view). Still would love to have some feedback on it.

Thanks.

Not bad for the first go round.
Now just let it rest until spring.

I like it.

The left side looks more pleasant now.

But in the far far future I would consider keeping only the three right trunks, for their size differences, forkage, and the bit more righteous way they all exit the base.

The 2 trunks on the right coming back in to each other is the only thing unpleasant, but it doesn't need to be fixed now.

This is a great piece of stock IMO...

So yeah...just water till spring.

I don't think winter wind protection would hurt.

Nice! That's an interesting clump! Don't see that characteristic much in nursery junipers...
Any more pictures of the base, a little more clear maybe?

Thanks for the feedback!
Really exciting to have your opinions on how to improve it and my skills in the process.

Thanks you. Here is a pic of the base.
When I got it, the trunks were all very curvy and coming back into each other.

Thanks. Would moving the trunk to the line in the second photo improve the unpleasantness on the right side? Perhaps later on? Will definitely give it some wind protection. Also thinking about put in it in the ground (pot and all) to help.

Yes for sure!

Absolutely later on!

Stare stare stare....
For now, we just imagine!

You'll come up with an even better plan by the time it's safe to move it again.

With jin, shari, and deadwood, THE feature of Junipers, you can let it run wild for a year or twelve and take it back to nice pieces.

Let her be.

Hi Sorce,
I need to remember that advice lol. Leave them alone to grow. No choppy, choppy etc.
