Big picture: What’s the vibe of the place, what’s it like?
World-renowned performing arts center Lincoln Center is always worth visiting when the opportunity arises. The sprawling Upper West Side complex is home to the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Ballet, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and Juilliard.
What kinds of events can we see here?
All kinds of music, dance, theater, and films show at Lincoln Center. Some highlights from the upcoming calendar include the New York Film Festival, the operas like The Life and Times of Malcom X and La Boheme, and ballets like The Nutcracker.
How are the seats?
As a general rule, fifth row seats are considered the best view you can get at a theater, but on a campus of venues as large as Lincoln Center, no seat is the same.
Good for kids?
Current kids’ and teens’ programming includes an educational open house and shows such as The Jungle Book, reimagined.
Anything in particular that makes this place special, from the programming to a unique feature it has?
In October 2022, David Geffen Hall, home to the New York Philharmonic, reopened after a major renovation that aimed to improve the venue’s acoustics and spiff it up with a modern look.
If we’re going to be in town, what—and who—do you think this is best for?
Whether you’re on a special date or reconnecting with old friend when you’re in town, seeing a live performance at Lincoln Center will always make for an elegant and memorable night out.
