Growth Habits: evergreen tree, drooping appearance, 80 to 100 feet tall (24-30 m), 35 feet spread (10 m); flattened needles, spirally arranged, dark blue-green above, with 2 white bloom bands below, 0.4 to 1 inch long (1-2.5 cm)

Brewer's spruce is named for its first collector, Prof William Henry Brewer, Professor of Agriculture at Yale.
Fruiting Habits:
Brewer spruce is monoecious. Trees older than 20 to 30 years, produce dark brown cones 3 to 6 inches long (8 to 15 cm) that mature from September to October. The seeds are 0.12 inch long (3 mm).
