The white spruce is an evergreen tree, attaining a height of 50 meters (150 feet) and a trunk diameter of 100cm (3 feet).The buds are orange-brown and 3 to 6 mm in size. The needles are very uniform in length (12 to 13 mm).
The cones are narrow cylindrical and 5-6 cm long and coloured copper brown to light orange.

The white spruce is used as a Christmas tree.
