Pinus densiflora Also known as the Japanese or Korean Red Pine is a tall, evergreen conifer with a broad conical, rounded habit and twisted branches.
It has soft, linear, dark green pine needles emerging in bundles of two or three from sheaths at the base of the leaves.
The red, flaking bark is an attractive feature of this tree and it also produces linear brown cones.
A good, large tree, excellent for shade and for habit contrast.
N.B. The fallen needles will cause the soil below to become acidic, making it difficult to grow some plants underneath.
This is a popular bonsai specimen.
