Abies veitchii is a lovely conifer with smooth, light grey bark is one of the smallest in the Abies genus.
It grows only to approximately 20m in height and is popular in many medium to larger, cool climate gardens.
It has a very neat conical outline shape, evenly spaced branches and the soft, blunt linear leaves curl over to reveal the silver-grey undersides.
The small, 5cm cones are a purplish-grey in colour but turn brown as they mature.
This fir can tolerate a good degree of shade, is drought tolerant and fast growing but unfortunately it tends to be not very long-lived.
