Ammerland is a very decorative, medium-sized western pine. These pines come from western parts of North America but this variety was bred in German Jeddeloh.

Its needles are borne in whorls of 5. They are mostly erect, stiff, blue-green, long. The shape of this pine is rather conical, looking better older than young. Usual size is between 3 and 5 meters, however in milder parts of Europe larger trees can be seen.

Its advantage is tolerance of wide range of soils (acid-neutral-alkaline-even chalky) and of air pollution in towns. It is fully hardy in zone 6.
