Signature: "Donald Barthelme", 5x3 card. Donald Barthelme
(1931-1989) was renowned for his short stories, most of which were published
in The New Yorker. He wrote many short-short stories, characterized as
"flash fiction", and often placed fictional or popular figures in
absurd situations. His first collection, Come Back, Dr. Caligari,
was published in1964; ten more collections followed, including the
posthumous Flying to America (2007). He also wrote four novels and a
variety of essays. Barthelme was also a journalist, a magazine editor
(co-founder of Fiction), a literature professor, and Director of
Houston's Contemporary Arts Museum. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Fine
condition.
