ROBERT INDIANA (1928-2018). Program inscribed and signed: "AC - Prefer This
Portrait - R Indiana", 22p, 8¼x10¼. Complete program for Indiana's exhibition at the
Galerie Denise Rene, New York City, November-December 1972. Signed on the fourth
page, beneath the artist's photograph and facing a biography page. The program features a
numbr of Indiana's works, both in color and in black and white. The photograph, which is
b/w, 8¼x10¼, is by Hans Namuth, NYC (imprinted at lower left margin). A printmaker,
sculptor and painter, Robert Indiana (born Robert Clark in 1928) began experimenting with
using letters, words and numbers in his work in the early 1960s. He is best known for his
LOVE sculpture, his signature work that was featured in a 1976-1977 series of "Love"
postage stamps. Slightly creased. Lightly worn at lower edge of front cover, slightly shaded at
perimeter of back cover. Fine condition.
