Pinus heldreichii(leucodermis) Photo Gallery 2010

The bosnian pine is a great dark green needled pine with good looking(often purple)cones. I have but a few cultivars to share, hopefully you can share some of yours with us.

Pinus heldreichii 'Dolce Dorme'. Relatively dwarf.

    Will,
Compact Gem grows to a nice sitting egg with many purple cones.
Barabits Compact is an other story, forms a perfect big ball after 25 years.

Posting a few pictures today after a rain storm.

    Pinus heldreichii 'species'

Pinus heldreichii *unnamed varigated clone*. Shot taken at the gardens of Jason Hupp who found this varigated clone that burns a little bit at a young age but eventually is nice and healthy.

'Smidt'. Numerous ways of it's spelling I believe the plant was discovered before World War II and then the name was 'germanized' afterwards. Whatever the name, a great plant.

I have a Smidt, it's a little sparse yet. But already has a fantastic look; ramrod straight robust grass green needles.

I'd really like a P. Heldreichii 'Irish Bell' but it's not looking like it's available in the UK yet sadly.

Pinus h. 'Green Bun'. Tight, built low to the ground with great color. Never any problems.

Pinus heldreichii Tiny Kick 2-year graft. As this plant becomes mature it is very-unattractive to say the least:
