Pinus species in Mid Atlantic

Ok experts.

Pines. So many of them. They are probably my least favorite genus in Pinaceae, but not for lack of appreciation. Pines seem to die suddenly here, esp. P. Strobus.

Questions:

What is the pathogen that causes a previously healthy Pinus strobus (I've seen it on others less often) to die suddenly in mid summer?

Pinus taeda is native here, yet I hear it doesn't take snow load well. Yay or nay?

Same for P. echinata.

Do the popular Asian species do well here? P. parviflora, P. thunbergii, P. densiflora, or P. koraiensis?
