The Pusch Dwarf Norway Spruce is in color and a show stopper for everyone who walks by the garden. It is about 4 years old and a stunner. What is your favorite conifer in your garden?

Alley Cat I love this one - the winter color is fantastic. I have a grove of 5-6 of them. I love it next to the Orange Rocket.

I am very fond of 'Pusch' as well! Mine is in a lot more shade than Shirley's so only now starting to develop those raspberry colored tips.

But I am equally fond of any dwarf conifer, especially when still very small :-) They are all cute little buggars!! I just recent acquired a tiny little Iseli starter of Cedrus deodara 'Snow Sprite' that is as cute as it can be at only about 6" tall. I know it will get considerably larger but will slow down its growth rate by growing it in a container.

The one that's been giving me the most pleasure lately is thuja occidentalis 'Rheingold'. It's color is always two tone and changing, the foliage so soft and delicate. It glows in the late afternoon sunlight. Mine is in a grapefruit/lime phase at the moment. 'Morgan' is currently on my must-have list.

    Just planted a 'Pusch' myself.

As for favorite, too hard to say... Picea engelmannii 'Bush's Lace', Abies koreana 'Silberlocke', Picea abies 'Gold Drift', too many favorites...So I'll go with another new addition, Picea abies 'Susan'.

I have too many favorites to list but here's 2 conifers I admire that develop cones.

Picea Pungens 'Ruby Tear Drops' and Picea Abies 'Acro Yellow'.

For me this past winter, it is Pinus mugo ‘Carsten ‘s wintergold’. The yellow color is so bright that I got two more this spring. Here is one of them just start to push new growth. And it is so easy to grow.

    Hy!

I havea 'Pusch' too, and it's very nice. We had a really heavy Spruce bloom this year here in germany, and i have the hope, that some of the cones may develope seeds ^^. But my personal favorits are two, a pine and an other spruce.

At first Pinus ponderosa 'J. M. WB Seedling #2" (can anyone tell me if that has gotten a "real name" meanwhile?)

    Second Picea orientalis 'Juwel'

Third and lastly my favorite from my own selections.

It's a Norway Spruce, found as a deer- browsed seedling with creamy new growth in 2012. In the meantime it hat developed a fine leader, is stable in it's dark green- bluish needles and the amazing new growth color, and i had named it 'Lights in the Darkness'. How sounds that to you :)?

nothing better than the spring push. Glacier's End is no exception.

Picea pungens 'Early Cones' done on a standard.

Picea engelmannii 'Willson Park' — the more I look at this one, the more I'm convinced that it's a superior little plant.

Pusch is definitely one of my faves as well. I also like Pusch's mother, 'Acrocona'...

I'll throw in a cute little one as well, Abies lasiocarpa 'Prickly Pete'
