Description 2

Trunk can grow up to 15m, 60cm wide, thin grey bark in long narrow strips, Spread of branches is greater than its height. Fruits are compressed, spherical, at the ends of short scale-bearing twigs, dark blue, in a bloom of about 7.5cm high, 10cm wide, 7.5cm thick. Leaves of young 7.5-10cm long, upto 1.25cm wide, nearly flat with whitish top, convex and bright green beneath. Leaves of mature appear as old twigs, scale-like, 2.5cm long. Flowers in March / April

Distribution 2

Juniperus bermudiana occurs throughout Bermuda so the total area of the island is the equivalent of its extent of occurrence (EOO): 57 km²

Habitat 2

Grows in shallow, calcareous soils on hillsides and along marshes and coastlines. Once formed almost pure stands with an estimated density of as much as 500 trees to the acre
