Pinus mugo 'Varella'

Pinus mugo 'Varella' A slowly growing selection of dwarf mountain pine with a dense, irregular, globose shape. Shoots grow needles twice a year. The characteristic feature are dark-green needles of two different lengths. Spring foliage is long (about 10cm), however during summer plant grow shorter, brush-like tufts. At the age of 10 reaches approximately 0.7m in diameter. Over time grows up to 1.2m high and 1.5m wide. This variety of dwarf mountain pine is very adaptable for soil conditions. This is a frost resistant plant. Prefers location in a full sun. It’s an excellent variety for backyards, rockeries, and for cultivation in containers. Looks extraordinary grafted on a trunk.
