As a production manager, I worked to coordinate four concerts within a two-week period…Worked as a production manager for 1Future Presents Not Yet Free in New York City. 1Future creates content that drives social change. As part of their larger initiative, they throw an annual festival in a different city every year that provide educational workshops, live concerts, and art exhibitions that aim to address and provide solutions to some of the world's most pressing social issues.
As a production manager, I worked to coordinate four concerts within a two-week period, involving over two dozen musicians, including famous Japanese performers Motoharu Sano and Akira Inoue, Bakithi Kumalo (bass player for Paul Simon), Hugh Masekela, and legendary South African singer and anti-Apartheid activist Dorothy Masuka. Responsibilities included rehearsal scheduling and equipment rental, artist logistics, venue and promotion outreach, and much more. In total, these concert events served over five thousands patrons.
The project was filmed as a documentary feature for NHK (National Japanese Broadcasting), and was covered by media outlets such as the New York Times, ABC, NPR, and the South African Broadcasting Company (SABC).
