Lodgepole Pine

Pinus contorta var. latifolia

Plant Description

This attractive small pine may eventually reach up to 100 feet tall. It has small, numerous cones, shorter, dark-green needles, and a conical or rounded crown. It is a larval host of the western pine elfin, a butterfly native to pine woodlands, and birds eat the nuts. Makes a good screen or hedge.
