Origin
The Acer pal. diss. 'Viridis', commonly known as the Japanese maple, has its origin in East Asia. This tree can primarily be found in Japan, Korea, China, and East Mongolia. For hundreds of years, it was cultivated and used in Japanese horticulture, before finding its way to the West in the 19th century.

Characteristics
The Acer pal. diss. 'Viridis' is a deciduous tree known for its aesthetic appeal. It has delicate, fine leaves that are green in spring and summer, and turn into dazzling shades of orange and red in Autumn. This maple variety can reach a height of between 2.5 and 4 metres when mature. The bark of the 'Viridis' is smooth and grey, which creates a strong contrast with the vibrant leaves.

Care
The Acer pal. diss. 'Viridis' requires some attention for optimal growth and bloom. The maple needs a moist, well-drained soil and a location with partial shade. Although it is resistant to most weather conditions, protection from strong winds and freezing cold is important to prevent damage to the delicate leaves. Pruning of the tree is best done in late summer or early Autumn, when the sap is no longer flowing, to prevent bleeding.
