It is another new breed from Italy. This variety was selected in 2014 by Danilo Bonacchi. The tree nursery of Francesco Vignoli in Italy wanted to refer to the ancient country of origin "Etruria" (Tuscany) regarding the naming of the new selections and chose deity names from the old mythology , ‘Selvans’ is the God of the forest.

 

The Giorgio Tesi Group from Pistoia (Italy) won the first prize in the ‘Nòva Green’ competition for Plants and Flowers at the recently held Italian trade fair Flormart 2015 in Padua. The company presented four varieties of Gingko Biloba: ‘Fastigiata Selvans’, ‘Fastigiata Feronia’, ‘Globosa Tinia’, and ‘Columnar Maris’. The first prize went to ‘Fastigiata Feronia’.

 

Description - Ginkgo biloba  ‘Selvans’. The leaves are light green with deeply lobed leaf lamina. Very strong branches overlapping on the trunk. It has a strong terminal leader; the branches ascend upwards making it a neat cone. It reliable produces very good autumn colour.
