Ginkgo biloba 'Tremonia' is a female form originating from the Dortmund Botanical Garden, Am Rombergpark 35a, 44225 Dortmund, Germany in 1930. Where it was found growing as a seedling by the then director of the Rombergpark Botanical Garden (later to be known as the Dortmund Botanical Garden), Richard Nose. How it was released into the trade is not known, but the Nurseryman Johann Gerd Krüssmann has connections with the garden and introduced a cultivar originating from the garden bearing his name. Therefore, it is not unreasonable to suppose that he was responsible for the introduction of Ginkgo biloba ‘Termonia’ into the trade. 
 
Description – Ginkgo biloba 'Tremonia' has larger leaves than the species that are bilobed and instead of being rounded, they take on a square appearance. This plant can grow 30 cm plus each year, and in nursery conditions we have seen it achieve 60 cm of growth. It remains fairly compact when young producing a straight trunk. It is open branched. This cultivar is the idea street tree and is also suitable for garden use. This columnar or pyramid-shaped variety will reach a height of 12 m in 15 years with a width of only 1.2 m – 1.8 m.  In the autumn it turns rich golden yellow.
