Pinus × holfordiana is a garden hybrid between two pine species, Pinus wallichiana and Pinus ayacahuite.

Description

Pinus × holfordiana is in between P. wallichiana and P. ayacahuite in terms of characteristics, but grows very fast (about 50 to 60 cm per year), and is more open in habit than either parent. Its leaves are long, like P. wallichiana, but has hairy twigs like P. ayacahuite. Its bark is orange-brown. The seed body is 7 to 10 mm long, intermediate in size between the two species (Eckenwalder 2009).
