Robert Frost, 85, of Nashville, formerly of Bolivar, departed this life Monday, June 5, 2023, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

The son of the late Max Henning and Evelyn Nelms Frost, he was born and reared in Bolivar.

After his school years, Mr. Frost first worked as a local farmer and in the cotton gin in Cloverport with his brothers.  For several years, he worked for the City of Bolivar Gas Department and as a volunteer fireman.  In 1968, he ran for Sheriff of Hardeman County and won election.  He served until 1972.

After his time as Sheriff, he became the lead investigator for the State of Tennessee Fire Marshall's office in Jackson.  Later, he moved to Nashville and served as State Fire Marshall.  From 1989-1997, he was Assistant Commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Commerce.  Mr. Frost worked for AKAL Security from 1999-2011 and, in concert with the US Marshall's office, provided security for the courts.  He was instrumental in the establishment of the new Fire Academy located in Murfreesboro and was a long-time member of the Tennessee Fire Chief's Association.  Additionally, he served on the State Pest Control Board for Governor Haslam.

A 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner, Mr. Frost was a member of Harpeth Heights Baptist Church (now known as Brentwood Baptist) where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, usher and greeter.  Other works he was involved with included the English Second Language classes, Room At The Inn, Baptist Children's Home, Nashville Rescue Mission and various toy drives during the Christmas season.  Following a fire that destroyed the New Union Baptist Church near Medon, TN, he and his wife, Linda, served on the building committee to help oversee reconstruction.

He leaves his wife, Linda Templeton Frost of Nashville, whom he married on August, 8, 1981; four daughters, Michelle Stephens (Danny) of Nashville, Mary Evelyn Frost of Byhalia, MS, Linda Cooper (Jere Allen) of Whiteville and, Diane Greene Weaver (Doug) of Hornsby; four granddaughters, Trinity AnnMarie Stephens, Katie Cooper Logan (Robert), Angela "Tootie" Greene Woods (Shea) and, Jennifer Paige Greene Pierce (Jim); six great-grandchildren, Casey, Ty, Zach, Shelby, Spencer and Bryce; a sister, Maxine Johnson of Texas; three brothers, Bernard Frost (Patricia) and Henry Frost (Nancy), both of Bolivar and, Tony Frost (Sheila) of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Lois Templeton of Selmer; two sisters-in-law, Leatha and Debbie Frost; and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Templeton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Diane Frost and Nancy Hartley; and three brothers, Dr. Charles L. Frost, Terry and Danny Frost.

Memorials may be sent to the Bolivar Loaves and Fishes Program or the Tennessee Professional Firefighters Association.
