Pinus contorta ‘Chief Joseph’

The deep, rich, golden-yellow winter color creates a striking beacon of brightness in the drab winter landscape. Light to medium green during spring, summer & well into fall, this very slow-growing Lodgepole Pine changes color dramatically as days shorten & temperatures drop.  Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 6’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 3” to 6” a year.

Pinus contorta 'Spaan's Dwarf'

Short, closely set, dark green needles & a sweeping, irregular habit give this dwarf Shore Pine an unusual look that suggests coral.  Develops a sturdy, open, upright branch structure & dramatic character with age. Slow growth & a wider-than-tall form make it a natural for rock garden, bonsai & container culture. Has a broad upright habit & reaches roughly 4’ tall by 3’ wide in size, growing 3” to 5” a year.

Pinus densiflora 'Low Glow'

The short, thick, bright green needles of this vibrant, dwarf Japanese Red Pine keep their color all year long. They grow densely along stout horizontal branches that give the unusual pine a flat-topped, low-growing habit. Prominent tan buds add interest. Has a globe shaped habit & reaches roughly 4’ tall by 6’ wide in size, growing 3” to 6” a year.

Pinus flexilis ‘Vanderwolf’s Pyramid’

Distinctive, pyramid-shaped pine with long, twisted, silvery blue-green needles covering the dense branches. A superior selection for use as a majestic lawn specimen or landscape accent. Excellent pest and disease resistance. An evergreen that needs full sun, has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 25’ tall by 12’ wide in size, growing 15”+ a year

Pinus leucodermis 'Emerald Arrow'

Upright branches on the tall, trim tree display pairs of elegant, dark green needles accented by silvery white fascicles & bark. Has the impression of being a big tree, yet it stays decidedly narrow. Whether used as an individual focal point, paired to mark the entrance to house or garden, or grouped in an informal cluster, this beautiful garden pine scores a bull's eye on the designer's dartboard. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 15’ tall by 8’ wide in size, growing 6” to 12” a year.

Pinus leucodermis 'Indigo Eyes'

Named for the eye-catching, cobalt blue cones that decorate each shoot tip in spring, this precocious "coner" demands attention & deserves greater use in gardens. Attractive, broadly upright trees develop an open, slightly asymmetrical shape, which affords each tree a unique character that will intrigue gardeners in their outdoor living spaces. The healthy, easy-to-grow trees retain their ornamental cones & their stiff, dark green needles, giving trees a beautiful, tidy, clean appearance throughout the year. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 10’ tall by 8’ wide in size, growing 6” to 8” a year.

Pinus longaeva ‘Sherwood Compacta’

This handsome, slow-growing Great Basin Bristlecone Pine develops a perfectly conical shape & a dense, formal appearance. Tightly packed tufts of medium-long, green needles with white undersides radiate around the ascending branches of the long-lived conifer.  Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches 1’ to 6’ tall.

Pinus mugo 'Carsten’s Wintergold’

One of the finest of the gold-hued pines, on a dwarf form! Short, densely arranged evergreen needles are an attractive green in spring and summer, turning to a rich gold tone as cold weather arrives. Most intense color in colder climates. Creates a bold statement as a specimen in smaller gardens, or in groupings in larger landscapes. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 1’ to 2’ tall by slightly wider in 10 years.

Pinus mugo 'Pesto'

An exciting addition to the TRUdwarf collection of mugo pines from Iseli Nursery, Pesto® has a unique spreading habit. Its vibrant green needles contrast strongly with its attractive brownish purple buds. Maintaining its ground-hugging form with minimal or no pruning, it provides the gardener with a low maintenance choice. Extremely adaptable & hardy, Pesto’s® consistency, reliability, & attractiveness make it an excellent choice for many areas. Has a spreading growth habit & reaches roughly 10” tall by 18” wide in size, growing 1” to 3” a year.

Pinus mugo 'Sherwood Compact'

Part of the miniature group of TRUdwarf® mugos, 'Sherwood Compact' boasts short, stiff branches that are heavily clothed with slightly twisted needles. Discovered in the 1950's by plantsman Andy Sherwood, the compact, dense mound produces rich green foliage with golden tips in winter & white fascicles that give plants a radiant look. Has a spreading growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 2’ wide in size.

Pinus mugo 'Slowmound'

The mugo you always hoped for. The dense, dark green mound is one of the best, with highly reliable color, texture, growth rate & habit.  Beautiful year-round, it produces many showy buds & matures to a wide, even shape that is naturally compact. At only 1-2' in 10 years, it works well in even the most confined areas. Has a globe shaped habit & reaches roughly 4’ tall by 6’ wide in size, growing 1” to 6” a year.

Pinus mugo ‘White Bud’

Cold weather brings a white resinous coating to each terminal bud, producing a dramatic frosty effect against the plant’s dark green winter foliage. During the rest of the year, the reliable TRUdwarf® plant requires little care and maintains its small stature without candle pruning. Highly desirable for rock garden, entry or border. Has a spreading growth habit & reaches roughly 3’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 1” to 6” a year.

Pinus nigra ‘Komet’

Dark green, medium length needles adorn strictly upward growing branches that seem to be reaching into the sky like a rocket shooting up into the atmosphere. In spring, tan candles emerge adding weeks of interest. Although useful in cold climate areas that need a vertical accent and a small footprint, this specimen will be a stunning feature in any garden. Provide full sun and well-drained soil. Has a narrow upright habit & reaches roughly 15’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 6” to 12” a year.

Pinus nigra 'Oregon Green'

Deep, glossy, rich green, stiff needles densely spaced & curved against the branches give the appearance of large pipe cleaners. The unique, more open form with asymmetrical branching creates a striking landscape specimen. In the spring there is a firework explosion of pearly white candles that come out in clusters. Prefers full sun & is evergreen. Has a broad upright habit & reaches roughly 18’ to 20’ tall by 15’ wide in size, growing at a moderately slow rate.

Pinus parviflora ‘Aoi’

Silvery blue on one side, green on the other, the long-enduring, straight needles give the naturally sculpted, upright tree a lush look. Sturdy branches display attractive silver-grey bark and loads of small cones. The slender architectural tree makes a dramatic feature and contributes an Asian aesthetic to the landscape. Provide full sun and good drainage. Has a narrow upright habit & reaches roughly 15’ tall by 8’ wide in size, growing 6” to 12” a year.

Pinus parviflora 'Fukuzumi'

The naturally variable, windswept character of this choice, slow-growing Japanese White Pine makes it a highly desirable addition to the landscape.  It develops multiple leaders that extend at 45° angles, with short, blue-green, twisted needles. The wide-spreading plant takes on an irregular, wide form, or it can be staked up for tree-like character. Has a spreading growth habit & reaches roughly 6’ tall by 12’ wide in size, growing 6” to 10” a year.

Pinus parviflora 'Goldilocks'

A naturally artistic, sweeping habit makes this rare pine a unique garden specimen. An overlay of soft, golden highlights contrast the silver undertones on the curved, green needles. For optimum color, seek a balance between sun & shade. Well-drained soil is required for this beauty to thrive. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 8’ tall by 6’ wide in size, growing 6” to 10” a year.

Pinus parviflora 'Kinpo'

Twisted, brush-like clusters of needles appear along spreading branches, some of them exposed to show off gray, textured bark. Gently curved shoots, accented with attractive small cones, provide year-round appeal. Site the accent conifer in a raised, courtyard bed, container or other premium location with full sun & average moisture. Salt tolerance suggests a seaside setting. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 3’ tall by 2’ wide in size, growing 2” to 4” a year.

Pinus parviflora ‘Ogon Janome’

An incredibly beautiful plant. This rare, mid-size, “Dragon’s Eye” form of Japanese White Pine exhibits tasteful variegation, like yellow bands on the needles. After seeing a specimen of this pine, even those who typically prefer plants without variegation rave about it. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 10’ tall by 8’ wide, growing 6” to 10” a year.

Pinus strobus 'Blue Shag'

This sprightly dwarf cultivar of Eastern White Pine produces long, soft, blue-green foliage & an outstanding, compact, reliably rounded form. Its size, shape, color & texture make it an excellent addition to many landscapes. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 6’ tall by 6’ wide in size, growing 3” to 6” a year.

Pinus strobus ‘Louie’

Has long, thin, vibrant yellow needles that stay brightly colored year-round. Interior foliage that is shaded stays fresh green, so the yellow really stands out. Large, open and upright, the symmetrical pyramid, best planted in full sun, seems to reflect the rays of the sun back into the garden. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 20’ tall by 15’ wide in size, growing 12” to 15” a year.

Pinus strobus 'Mini Twists'

A great fit for the smaller landscape, this selection of the Eastern White Pine with its small twisted & curvy needles will create an unusual texture in the garden. Responds well to annual candle pruning which will encourage an even more compact, full-foliaged small tree. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 6’ tall by 4’ wide, growing 3” to 6” a year.

Pinus strobus ‘Niagara Falls’

The handsome, cascading, compact, weeping form boasts many draping branches and long, two-tone needles. Every dense, wide specimen develops a unique character and flowing habit that mimics the action of the roaring Niagara Falls.  Has a spreading growth habit & reaches roughly 6’ tall by 10’ wide in size, growing 6” to 8” a year.

Pinus strobus 'Sea Urchin'

Truly a miniature, this Eastern White Pine has giant appeal. Soft bluish green needles cover this little mound that reminds one of its namesake, the sea urchin. Remains one of the most sought after miniature conifers. Its small rounded shape & very slow growth make it perfect for the patio garden in troughs or containers. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 2’ wide in size, growing 1” to 3” a year.

Pinus thunbergii 'Thunderhead'

Especially during winter, the eye-catching, brilliant-white candles of this popular selection of Japanese Black Pine create a striking contrast to the thick, glossy, green needles. Develops a dense, billowy, cloud-like form that may mature to a form as wide as tall. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 15’ tall by 12’ wide, growing 6” to 12” a year.
