Thuja occidentalis 'Degroot's Spire'

It has it all: habit, color and texture! It combines a narrow, columnar form with thick, ruffled, medium green foliage & branchlets that occasionally twist & layer over one another. Use as a single exclamation point, in a grouping or lined up for tall screening in tight spaces. Hardy, durable & adaptable to many conditions. Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 15’ tall by 3’ wide in size, growing 6” to 12” a year.

Thuja occidentalis ‘Emerald Green’

A narrow, pyramidal evergreen with dense, emerald green foliage that holds its color throughout winter. One of the most popular and effective shrubs for screening or tall hedge use. An ideal specimen for topiary. Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 15’ tall by 3’ to 4’ wide in size.

 

Thuja occidentalis 'Fire Chief'

A nearly perfectly globe-shaped shrub with fine, bright gold spring foliage and fantastic deep red fall color.  A slow growing, low maintenance evergreen perfect for massing in a landscape foundation or as a rock garden specimen. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 2’ wide in size.

 

Thuja occidentalis ‘Janed Gold’

An exceptional variety with intense, yellow-gold foliage. A standout among other varieties, as it holds its bright color year-round, even through winter. Thrives in summer heat without burning, if watered regularly. Tight, upright pyramidal form becomes conical with age. Excellent garden specimen or hedging shrub. An evergreen that likes partial to full sun, has a narrow upright habit & reaches roughly 8’ tall by 4’ wide in size.

Thuja occidentalis 'Jantar'

The eye popping yellow on this version of Emerald Arborvitae becomes a warmer amber tone during winter, hence the name 'Jantar', Polish for amber. Has a narrow upright habit & will add dramatic color to the landscape as a focal plant or privacy screen.  Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 15’ tall by 3’ wide in size, growing 6” to 12” a year.

 

Thuja occidentalis 'Lemon Burst'

New from the First Editions Program at Bailey Nursery, this Arborvitae is colorful and tidy. Grows to about 6’ tall & 4’ wide. Colorful Arborvitae that gets some orangey color in winter for added interest. Resistant to needle blight a bonus as well. Best in sun or part shade.

Thuja occidentalis 'Mr. Bowling Ball'

This silvery-green, dwarf Arborvitae looks like an oversized bowling ball, except for its fine, almost lacy, texture. Actually, it is a reliable, mid-size, spherical bush that has many uses in the landscape.  It is hardy, durable & adaptable to many conditions. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 6’ tall by 6’ wide in size, growing 3” to 6” a year.

 

Thuja occidentalis ‘Planet Earth’

Introduced from Bailey Nursery’s First Editions Program, this easy care Arborvitae may reach about 5’ tall and wide. Bright green color in the season, turning bronze in colder winter months. Best in sun or part shade. Perfect round balls without pruning! Resistance to needle blight is a bonus as well.

 

Thuja Occidentalis ‘Primo’

Rich, deep green summer color combines with the compact textural foliage and naturally sculpted spire-like shape making this new selection an unexpected breakthrough for the hardy common Arborvitae. With a muted green winter color, a very young tree has proportions perfect for mini-scapes or container gardening. As it ages, an elegant small tree develops. The natural character as a specimen is the finest quality a conifer can offer the landscape in either cold or moderate climates. Primo! Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 4’ tall by 1’ wide in size, growing 3” to 5” a year.

Thuja orientalis 'Franky Boy'

Filaments of lemon yellow foliage jutting out from a lime green interior move & sway with the slightest breeze creating an airy texture & great color contrast to other garden plants. You can have the effects of ornamental grasses without winter die-back. Light shearing will encourage a formal, compact form &provide a proliferation of bright & colorful foliage. Plant in full sun for best color. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 4’ to 6’ tall by 3’ to 4’ wide in size.

 

Thuja orientalis 'Morgan'

This woody chameleon, native to Australia, is known for its exceptional ability to change foliage color. Its summer lime-green foliage turns deep purple in fall, followed by a fantastic rich orange color during the winter months. A favorite plant among dwarf conifer enthusiasts. Has an upright growth habit & reaches roughly 3’ tall, growing 2” to 4” a year.

Thuja plicata 'Forever Goldy'

With intense yellow foliage that stays bright all season & through the winter, this plant is truly forever gold. Being both heat & drought tolerant, it is highly resistant to burn. Fast growing but compact, it serves excellently as a low maintenance hedge or screen. Definitely an eye-catcher in the garden. Has an narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 25’ tall by 12’ wide, growing 6” to 8” a year.

 

Thuja plicata ‘Green Sport’

Quickly develops into a uniform, narrowly conical tree with shiny foliage that retains its green color well in the winter. Excellent for use as a screen or a specimen. This trouble-free evergreen responds well to regular pruning as a clipped hedge or to create a formal appearance. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 12’ tall by 5’ wide, growing even larger with age.

 

Thuja plicata ‘Gruene Kugel’

A slow growing, globe-shaped mound with thick, coarse looking foliage. The rich, dark green color of this Western Red Cedar is accentuated in the winter when bronze colored foliage tips appear. Useful as a low hedge or border in full sun. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 3’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 3” to 5” a year.

Thuja plicata 'Lucky Find'

This colorful seedling displays yellow tips on green sprays of foliage. Winter changes the green to a very dark purple-brown while the yellow tips continue to stand out against the darker foliage. Graceful branching & coloring serves well as a specimen or is amenable to shearing to form a bright hedge or screen. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 20’ tall by 15’ wide in size, growing 6” to 8” a year.

 

Thuja plicata 'Whipcord'

The unusual foliage on this low, mop-head-like plant consists of long, thick, glossy tendrils that suggest Independence Day fireworks. Unlike the species, which is a giant forest tree, the many branches seem to explode upward & send sparks cascading in all directions. Green in summer, the foliage changes to bronze in winter, matching the richly colored wood. Every garden can accommodate the small, dynamic conifer (only about 5' tall and 4' wide) that demonstrates some deer resistance.  Has a globe shaped habit & reaches roughly 4’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 3” to 5” a year.

Thuja x ‘Ember Waves’

An exciting, new, colorful evergreen! Sunny yellow new growth emerges in striking contrast to maturing chartreuse to bright green foliage. The real drama arrives when the weather cools, and it transitions to deep gold, with glowing orange to russet red tips. Vigorous and virtually disease free. Superb accent or screen. Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 25’ tall by 8’ wide in size.

 

Thuja x ‘Green Giant’

One of the finest evergreens for use as screening or a windbreak, this upright conifer is versatile, strong-rooted and virtually disease-free. Its uniform shape seldom needs pruning, but responds well to shearing. Thrives in southern heat and humidity. A durable, handsome accent tree. Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 50’ tall by 5’ wide, growing up to 5’ a year.

Thuja x ‘Tiny Tower’

This new sport of the well known 'Green Giant' is noted for its upright, more compact habit. Lively green foliage is fine to the touch and maintains a tight shape. Use this handsome, easy-care shrub to create an evergreen screen, define the back of a border, or feature as an accent specimen in landscape or container. A Monrovia exclusive that has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 18’ to 20’ tall by 4’ to 5’ wide in size.
