Ginkgoaceae

Ginkgo biloba FASTIGIATA BLAGON ('Blagon') Ginkgo biloba FASTIGIATA BLAGON ('Blagon')

Large columnar tree, 15 to 20 m tall with steeply rising main branches. Twigs are light brown and smooth, mature bark is grey-brown and deeply grooved when older. The typical fan-shaped leaves are the trademark of Ginkgo, ‘Blagon’ is no exception. They are up to 10 cm long and wide. In autumn the leaves turn intense golden yellow. This French selection has a columnar growth habit that is more or less the same as ‘Princeton Sentry’. The cultivar name refers to the village of the same name near Bordeaux where the tree was found. For commercial reasons and because the nomenclature rules do not allow the inclusion of a Latin word (fastigiata) in the cultivar name, the trade name Fastigiata Blagon was chosen to show that this is a columnar tree. The strong rising branching pattern makes this tree very suitable for narrower streets.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2024.
