It's a good choice where a small, slow-growing evergreen is desired.

Mops mugo pine has been an excellent plant at the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden. It has a uniform shape and attractive dark green color. It puts on more new growth when there is a wet spring compared to dry years.

No maintenance needed under normal conditions. As plant get older, remove one-half of new growth as candles expand to keep plants small, if desired. If a plant has outgrown its spot, it's also an option to simply replace an older plant with a younger one.
