3.15 DA2 told me he found the car advertised in a local German paper by chance. It turns out the car had been kept for many decades in a garage in what was former Eastern Germany before the Berlin Wall came down.
The owner said the chassis remained in good shape, but extensive body work and a new paint job were required to get the car in its present condition. The DIXI Dsc018293.15 DA2 features the famous bean-shaped grill and represents one of the first major models produced by a fledging BMW, which cut its teeth on motorcycles and plane motors before becoming a carmaker. Like many of the vintage models on display, notice how the hood is fastened with a leather, belt-like strap.

The owner said he drives the car regularly, and can take it up to 44 mph. Its insides to get jostled sometimes, though, like the fuel line that recently came loose, the owner said.
