Description

Juniperus pfitzeriana glauca is a hybrid between Juniperus chinensis and Juniperus sabina. It is a creeping, mat shaped shrub that belongs to the conifer group. It is characterised by its flat growth. The needles of the evergreen shrub have a green blue colour. The plant grows to a maximum height of 30 centimetres and is one to two metres wide. It grows very slowly, only about five to six centimetres per year. The shrub spreads like a carpet and is therefore the perfect ground cover to bring some green into the garden even in winter.

Juniperus pfitzeriana glauca is quite modest in its requirements and easy to care for. It likes a sunny to semi shady position. It does not tolerate shade well. It grows in sandy humic garden soil, which it prefers to be well drained and fresh to moist. Juniperus pfitzeriana glauca has medium water requirements and enjoys occasional thorough and penetrating watering. This stimulates the roots of the plant to penetrate deeper soil layers, which helps it to survive dry periods. The plant is pruning resistant, but as a rule it rarely or never needs pruning. The plant also stands out for its winter hardiness. -35 °C and more are no problem for it. Even heat can hardly harm it. It is also tread resistant. Container plants can be planted all year round, with the exception of frost or hot spells.
