This 1970 Plymouth Superbird was purchased new from Clift Chrysler-Plymouth of Knoxville, Tennessee by an Indiana resident, who retained the car until 2005. In September 1970, the original selling dealership reportedly installed a trio of two-barrel carburetors atop the 440ci V8 in place of the car’s factory-installed four-barrel setup. The blue paint is said to have been refinished in 1996, and other features include white vinyl upholstery, a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission, and an 8.75″ Sure Grip rear end with a 3.55:1 final drive. Features include a nose cone, a rear wing, a black vinyl roof, power-assisted steering, front disc brakes, Rallye 15″ wheels, and a push-button AM radio. Acquired by the selling dealer in January 2024 and now showing 54k miles, this U-code Superbird is offered in New York with a bill of sale, canceled checks, and loan and insurance paperwork from the September 1970 original purchase as well as a broadcast sheet, expired registrations from 1970 through 1996, Indiana safety-inspection forms, Superbird memorabilia, and a clean Montana title.
