A striking 1970 Plymouth Superbird replica is expected to sell for between $250,000 and $300,000 when it hits the auction block during Mecum’s Kissimmee sales event.

Looking at the car, you could be excused for thinking that this Plymouth was indeed a real Superbird – so accurate is its exterior. However, it actually started out life as a 1970 Plymouth Satellite and underwent a rotisserie restoration where various Superbird parts were fitted, including the front nose cone and chin spoiler, front fender air extractor scoops, A-pillar chrome trim, and the car’s iconic rear wing.

Making this Superbird replica all the more impressive is the fact that it has been equipped with a 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 that actually fits nicely under the car’s hood, although the battery did have to be relocated to make room for the air intake. Various upgrades have been made to this engine, including the fitment of a fuel pump that is rated at 1,000 hp. Coupled to the car is a six-speed manual transmission from Tremec.

Numerous other mechanical upgrades have been made, the listing reveals. For example, it features an RMS front F-frame with rack-and-pinion steering, an RMS 4-link in the rear, and a set of Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners with six-piston calipers at the front and 4-piston calipers at the rear.

Adorning the exterior of the car is a lime green paint scheme complemented by classic Road Runner graphics on the rear wing, rear panel, and headlight covers. The interior has also been updated and includes a Pistol Grip shifter, a carbon fiber dashboard, a Mopar steering wheel, Coach Controls wiring with an alarm system, and a Vintage Air system.
