It was a huge hit in the late 1990s.

And now, more twenty years on, comedy stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell have treated fans to a shock reunion.

The duo, who dominated Nickelodean's teen audience with their comedy capers on All That and Kenan & Kel, met up with their old cast-mates on Monday for a forthcoming episode of MTV's Wild 'N Out.

Naturally, they couldn't resist sharing backstage footage of the incident on social media.

Now aged 39, Kel posted a number of selfies to Instagram, where he boasts more than half a million followers.

One snap, which sees him and Kenan with former co-star Lori Beth Dunberg, racked-up more than 39,000 likes in just a few hours, plus plenty of comments.

One delighted fan wrote: "You guys are awesome!!! Best reunion ever", while another gleefully added: "Can't wait until this episode airs!!!".

A third then added: "U are awesome and a big part of my childhood thanks for making my younger years so awesome".

Another said: "C'mon dog, this puts a huge smile on 70s and early 80s babies faces..amazing!!".

Clearly touched by the response, Kel then shared more pictures, including one with handsome star Josh Server.

Another fan joyously declared: "Omg!!! When??? I'm so excited for this lol..."

Both Kenan & Kel launched their career on All That in 1994, where they proved such a hit with viewers that TV execs created their very own eponymous show.

That ran for 65 episodes from 1996 to 2000 and even sparked a made-for-TV movie, which was a commercial and critical success.

The men went their separate ways when the show ended - both appearing in TV shows and the occasional film - before rumours of a rift emerged.

According to reports, the double act fell apart in 2003 when they both auditioned for Saturday Night Live and Thompson beat his partner to the role.

In 2012 Kel went public with the rift and told TMZ they were no longer friends.

He said at the time: “The truth is Kenan does not want to be seen with me in any form of media, or even have my name mentioned around him.”

“I have not been upset about this. I respect his choice of wanting to make a name for himself solo.”

That was put to bed when they appeared together on the show, last year.
